England WAGs to stay on luxury cruise ship at World Cup - away from Three Lions players

The England team's wives and girlfriends are set to spend the World Cup on a luxury cruise liner.

The majority of the WAGs decided to go with the 'official' trip to Qatar supported by the FA. Following a meeting in London about Qatar, they were given advice on security and use of social media while at the tournament.

Several of the WAGs have already visited Qatar to look at accommodation. They include Katie Goodland, Harry Kane's wife, who went to the exclusive Banana Island resort. But cruise ships docked in Doha are likely to cater for most of the England Wags and other family members.

Brochure shots show the beautiful interior of one of the options, the four-star Poesia cruise liner. It will be docked in port for the duration of the tournament. Spots onboard begin at around £136 per night.

It is believed Jordan Henderson's wife Rebecca Burnett and Raheem Sterling's fiancee Paige Milian favour the cruise liner option. A cabin with a double bed and bunks designed to sleep four people on the five-star MSC Europa will cost £486 per night for a minimum four-night stay.

More luxurious births cost £260 to £385, with suites at £1,900 per night. Katie went on a World Cup reconnaissance mission for the WAGs earlier this year. Harry’s father also made a trip to Doha on behalf of the players’ parents.

That means the WAGs will not stay in the same accommodation as the players. Gareth Southgate's squad will stay at the Souq Al Wakra hotel near Doha, with a 95-strong delegation of players, coaches and support staff making the journey to Qatar.

Speaking to Mirror Football, senior sales manager Aiman Merenciano said: "The new swimming pool is ready. We have increased from 70 employees to 100 now and we will reach 130 for the World Cup. It is to make sure the team has everything they need.

"All staff will be supporting England. We really hope they do well... Outside the hotel the branding is by FIFA. Everything inside the hotel is done by England. Their new TV system is in all the rooms so all the matches will be shown live.

"The FA spoke with our chefs, most food will be bought locally. We have everything so we will prepare all the menus. Our staff have a good grasp of English, that is expected here."

England's campaign starts against Iran at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on November 21. They will travel to the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor to face the USA four days later before taking on Wales at the Al Rayyan Stadium on November 29.

The Three Lions are expected to progress from their group as one of the pre-tournament favourites. The bookies are also backing Brazil, South America champions Argentina and World Cup holders France to challenge for the biggest honour in international football.
