A truly dramatic Autumn Nations Cup Final took place in front of 2,000 returning fans at Twickenham on Sunday.
Six Nations champions England - who had breezed through the inaugural edition of this makeshift tournament - needed a penalty from the inconsistent Owen Farrell in the second half of sudden death extra-time to see off a spirited young French team missing most of their frontline players.
A last-gasp try from Luke Cowan-Dickie - and crucial Farrell conversion after three earlier misses - in normal time had forced the additional period after Les Bleus looked set to cause a huge upset.
Farrell’s missed penalty in the first half of sudden death had given an inexperienced France outfit more hope, but ultimately England’s captain stood firm to deliver a second trophy in five weeks for Eddie Jones’ men, who are now on an eight-match winning streak.
The Autumn Nations Cup will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 13. Get in on the action by subscribing to Amazon Prime. It costs £7.99 a month, £79 a year or try a 30-day free trial.
