England star hints at changes for bumper T20 World Cup semi-final clash vs India

Mark Wood has suggested England could make multiple changes to their side for the upcoming T20 World Cup semi-final clash with India, stating they need to be "fluid" with their team selection, batting order and bowling lineup.

Reflecting on the win over Sri Lanka, Wood said: "They got off like a train but good teams respond well, and I think we responded well. The tale of the game was that spin was always going to be hard, and could the pace either get wickets or restrict?

"That was different to the last game, and if the Adelaide pitch is different we'll have to adapt there as well. You've got to be fluid in your team, in selection, in orders and bowling lineups.

"You don't want to be a one-trick pony." One change could be enforced, with Dawid Malan unlikely to play after picking up a groin injury against Sri Lanka.

Should the injury rule him out for the remainder of the tournament, Phil Salt is the only spare batter in the squad and Wood says he is "chomping at the bit" to play. "Phil will be good if he's needed," Wood added.

"He's one of the only ones that faces the bowlers, normally the batters like dog sticks but he takes on the bowlers and I think he's chomping at the bit.

"He's been ready for a while and he's got something about him so he'll be able to fit into the side for the big game if needed."

However, Wood suggested England could also tweak their bowling lineup depending on conditions in Adelaide, a ground they are yet to play at in this tournament. Chris Jordan or Tymal Mills could come into the side to strengthen England's death bowling, while David Willey could provide an added threat with the new ball.

Harry Brook has also failed to make much of an impact after an impressive series against Pakistan. He also has a particularly poor record in Australia, having averaged 6.28 in a Big Bash stint with Hobart Hurricanes last winter and now 8.16 in seven T20Is with England.
