England Lioness trophy parade: How to watch and what time it's on

After almost 60 years of hurt, football has finally came home. The Lionesses were last night crowned champions of Europe following a hard-fought rivalry final against Germany at Wembley, in which England earned a 2-1 victory - with goals coming from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly.

Sarina Wiegman's side made history in front of a jam-packed Wembley, with England's women achieving their first ever major trophy.

Celebrations followed while social media users around the globe showered the squad with messages of praise - with Her Majesty The Queen even congratulating the Lionesses on their victory. Now the trophy is set to be paraded around London on Monday, with a public party kicking off in Trafalgar Square.

The Mirror reports that thousands of supporters, many draped in England flags and sporting replica shirts, queued outside the official fanzone at Trafalgar Square, London, ahead of the Euro 2022 victory celebrations.

But how can those who are miles from the capital get amongst the celebrations from a distance? ChronicleLive has compiled a quick guide of everything you need to know.

What time is the parade?

England fans will get their chance to celebrate with the Euro-winning squad today with a live event taking place in Trafalgar Square. Some 7,000 supporters will be granted access to the event, which is free on a first-come-first-served basis. It started from 11am with a Q&A ceremony taking place before the Lionesses victoriously raise the trophy.

I'm not in London, how can I watch?

For those living outside of central London, as well as those unlucky few who don't get in before the 7,000 limit - live coverage of the action from the BBC will take place from 12.40pm onwards. Alex Scott hosts the coverage, which is expected to come to a close at 2pm after the Lionesses have shared a portion of their victory with dedicated fans.

What has been said?

Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham said: “This is an iconic moment for English football and everyone is so proud of the players, Sarina and the support team. They’ve captured the nation’s hearts and it is an achievement that will be remembered forever. It has been an honour to host the tournament in England and the fans have been so important during the team’s journey to success this summer, so it’s only right that they can celebrate this historic victory together at Trafalgar Square.”

Major of London Sadiq Khan, added: “The atmosphere at Wembley and across the country throughout the tournament has been a fantastic advert for women’s football. Nearly 600,000 tickets were sold for the matches and more than nine million people tuned in to watch England play.

"The Women’s Euro 2022 will have inspired a new generation of women footballers and I hope this paves the way for better access to football for girls in school, more investment in grassroots girls and women’s football and much more support for girls and women in all sports.

“I would like to thank Sarina Wiegman and the Lionesses for treating us to an amazing summer of football. I can’t wait to see them lift the trophy again as they celebrate with the fans on Trafalgar Square on Monday.”
