England Lioness Chloe Kelly explains reason behind iconic celebration

England Lioness Chloe Kelly explained the reason behind her iconic celebration after scoring the winning goal against Germany at the Women's Euros.

Following their incredible and historic win at the Women's Euros on Sunday July 31, England player Chloe Kelly joined the Good Morning Britain team to discuss the nation's response. The game's winning goal scorer said she was over the moon with how things played out but admitted nothing feels real yet.

Kate Garraway mentioned Chloe's celebration where she swing her shirt over her head, declaring it's a scene that will go down in history. The presenter said it felt like an incredible moment for women as it was an image of "pure joy" young girls will never forget.

Agreeing with Kate, Chloe said: "I was thinking 'Is it a free kick or a goal?' I didn't want to celebrate too much and I was still holding my shirt ready to take it off. Everything is a blur and you celebrate for what the moment is and I wanted to take my shirt off so I did. You see men do it all the time so I did it too."

On record as calling men's England footballer Bobby Zamora one of her idols, Chloe got a shock when he joined her via video call during the interview. Richard Madeley introduced the striker who sent his congratulations to the star player.

He said: "I'm touched to have you speak my name on such an amazing moment and you yourself have created the greatest English football female moment ever. You are an absolute hero, a national hero, and you should be so proud of yourself."

The message comes after Chloe mentioned Bobby during her press interviews where she admitted she hoped to follow in his footsteps. She said: "I said to my family this morning, imagine we get a Bobby Zamora moment and it’s me… and now it’s happened! Bloody hell! Unbelievable! This is what dreams are made of!"
