Jeremy Hunt has said the Government's energy support scheme will be extended in April. The Chancellor of the Exchequer said the details of the scheme will be released “very shortly”.
However, Mr Hunt has warned that the scheme will become more targeted from April, meaning it will likely not be available for everyone. In September, the Government promised to pay a significant part of company energy bills but now many businesses are worried that their support will end in April.
Speaking on LBC radio, Mr Hunt said: “I can reassure people that we will be continuing with support. And we’ll be announcing very shortly the precise details of that support. But we do want to continue supporting businesses going forward.”
He added “we’re quite close” to an announcement. He said he hoped the news would come out "just before or just after".
