Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized the collaborative nature of the first meeting of President Donald Trump's Cabinet, describing it as a 'wide-ranging discussion.' He clarified that Elon Musk, who has been tasked with government reform, is not dictating directives to Cabinet secretaries but rather working in conjunction with them to enhance government operations.
Wright highlighted the objective of aligning government practices with business principles to improve efficiency, service quality, and overall performance. He noted that Musk and Trump are collaborating with Cabinet members to achieve this goal.
During the meeting, which commenced with a one-hour news conference, Wright stated that there was active participation from Cabinet members, the president, and the vice president. The discussions encompassed various topics relevant to enhancing government operations and service delivery.

Addressing concerns about potential workforce reductions directed by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Wright expressed confidence that such cuts would not hinder the agency's initiatives. He likened DOGE to consultants or auditors who analyze data and identify trends to assist departments in streamlining operations and enhancing productivity.
Wright emphasized that each Cabinet secretary would utilize the information provided by DOGE differently to make their respective departments more efficient, leaner, and productive. The overarching objective is to optimize government functions while maintaining service quality and output levels.
