Democrat Brian Sager has the temperament and resume to be an effective state representative, and he is endorsed. He has been mayor of Woodstock since 2005, and he’s on the board of the Regional Transportation Authority. He has sat on the McHenry County Welfare Services Commission, the McHenry County Storm Water Management Commission and the Woodstock City Council. In those roles, he has demonstrated a centrist approach to solving problems.
Sager, a retired college professor and administrator, previously was a Republican. His priorities include economic growth, job creation and full restoration of local government distributive funds.
Also running for this seat, formerly held by McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks, is one-term Republican incumbent Steven Reick of Woodstock, a retired tax attorney.
