'End of an era' - Manchester United fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo's potential Saudi Arabia deal

Since Cristiano Ronaldo departed Manchester United last week, fans have been wondering where he is going to move next. It is unlikely that he will make the final decision on his next club until after the World Cup, however, as he looks to win the trophy with Portugal.

Ronaldo's departure was confirmed after the airing of his explosive interview with Piers Morgan where he took aim at the Glazers and also stated that he didn't respect new manager Erik ten Hag. The forward was already on shaky ground for leaving the Tottenham game early after refusing to come on as a substitute.

But where next for Ronaldo? Reports in the summer stated that the 37-year-old still wanted to play at the highest level and compete in the Champions League but no offers materialised and therefore he remained at United.

However, reports emerged this morning in The Telegraph that Ronaldo may receive his first official offer since he become unattached. Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia made a £125m-a-year contract offer for the player in the summer, but it was rejected; now he is a free agent though it's reported they will come in again with a new offer.

Fans have had a mixed reaction to the news. Some have stated that it is probably the best he can expect after his 'unprofessionalism' in how he has acted while others are still hoping that he gets a move to a club playing in a major competition in Europe. And some were just in disbelief.

One fan even stated that both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi moving to Saudi Arabia and the MLS respectively would be the 'end of an era'. This is a selection of the responses from social media:
