End of an era as hugely popular FM104 broadcaster Nobby leaves station after 24 years

Popular radio broadcaster Mark 'Nobby' Noble has announced that he will be leaving FM104.

The well-known motoring journalist Mark Noble, who presents the Dublin-based station's morning Strawberry Alarm Clock show with Jim-Jim Nugent shocked fans with the sudden announcement.

He said: "Tomorrow will be my last day in FM104. If you ever tuned in to the show that we love doing so much, thank you."

The programme broadcasts each weekday morning between 6am to 10am.

Mark, who previously presented the drive time show The Jam, will be leaving the station after 24 years of service.

The former DJ said on air this Thursday morning that "change is good" and that having spent half his life with the station, it was "time for change" to happen in his life.

"Thank you for being my friend," he told listeners live on air, in an emotional sign off on his penultimate day.

In response to Nobby, Duncan Smith TD wrote that the programme will never be the same again. "Thanks for all the laughs, messing and great morning radio," he said.

While Fair City's George McMahon also known as Mondo O'Connell on the show, wrote: "Ah Nobby… the end of an era! Congrats on the many years of brilliant radio. Best of luck on the next chapter."
