EMR update on weekend travel disruption to London

There will be no trains running directly from Nottingham to London St Pancras or returning this weekend. East Midlands Railway (EMR) has said that's because of essential engineering work taking place between Luton and London St Pancras.

That means there is no direct service on Saturday (June 25) or Sunday (June 26). Saturday is set to be the third day rail staff are striking following a dispute with bosses about pay and working conditions.

If travel is still decided, EMR advises passengers to plan ahead and to leave extra time for disruption and short notice changes. Alternative routes are also operating a limited service.

For those travelling to London St Pancras, EMR says the service will terminate at Luton, where a rail replacement coach to Hitchin can continue the journey. From there, trains will run to London St Pancras or London Kings Cross, but there will be a limited service on this route on Saturday because of the strike action.

For those travelling from London St Pancras, EMR says to do the same but in the reverse order. There is no step free access at Luton, and those with reduced mobility are advised to change at Kettering for road transport.

EMR will have information on journeys on their website and social media accounts.
