Police are investigating after an empty ATM was found at a soccer pitch in Adelaide's north-east this morning.
SA Police were called to a reserve at Fourth Avenue in Klemzig about 4:40am, where they say they found an ATM that had been forced open and was empty.
Senior Constable Rhett Davis told ABC Radio Adelaide that witnesses saw a car leaving the area just before police arrived.
Police were called to a petrol station on Stephens Terrace at St Peters just before 6am, after an employee arrived at work to discover the station had been broken into and an ATM had been stolen.
"The ATM was stolen about 3:30, so looks like they're all linked there," Senior Constable Davis said.
Police said they were also investigating links between the ATM's theft and a stolen car that was found on fire in a suburb in Adelaide's north.
SA Police say patrols were called to Harvey Street, Nailsworth, about 5am, after reports of a car on fire.
Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze, however, police said the RAV 4 — which they say had been stolen overnight from Klemzig — was completely destroyed.
