An Ayr family have sent a heartfelt video request asking Liam Gallagher to ‘sing his heart out’ in memory of a beloved dad.
Relatives of James McGarrie known as Mij want Champagne Supernova dedicated to the former mega-fan, who took his own life aged just 32 in September 2019.
Oasis-daft James had booked tickets to see his hero with Suzann at the Hydro in Glasgow just months before his tragic death.
His family had lyrics to the Manchester band’s hit B-side Stay Young written on his grave – which has been hit by the Ayr Cemetery scandal.
In an emotional Tik Tok video made by James’ sister Christine McGarrie, the family put together a loving tribute of pictures with Stay Young used as the backing track.
In the moving clip the words appear saying “A lad who was loved by many,” as images of him with his kids appear.
The text in the clip goes on to read, “If we had our way he would have lived forever. But it wasn’t to be… He lost his battle with mental health that no one knew he was fighting.”
Christine, 38, will head to Hampden on Sunday with James’s ex-partner and mother to his son Travis, Suzann McKenzie.
The pair will wave a special Union Jack flag with “Love for Mij” written across it to catch the iconic singer’s attention.
Suzann, 32, told Ayrshire Live: “James loved Oasis, we went to loads of gigs to see both Liam and Noel when we were together.
“At his funeral we played Stay Young as Christine always remembers his listening to it.
“On his headstone it says ‘Young and Invincible’ from Stay Young.”
“We’ve been trying to get Liam’s attention, I’ve been sending him tweets to try and get him to dedicate Champagne Supernova to James.
“Christine has made up a Tik Tok to send to him, we really hope he sees it.
“We’ll be taking a flag with ‘Love for Mij’ across it and we’ve got special Oasis t-shirts made up for James.
The pair hope Liam will take note of their efforts with the Rock 'n' Roll Star known for dedicating songs during his gigs.
Suzann added: “It will be an emotional day, it’s been an incredibly tough couple of months for us dealing with the graves crisis.
“We want to do something in tribute to him, James would have loved to have been there at Hampden to see his hero perform live again.”
Liam will play the national stadium on Sunday with Leicester rockers Kasabian supporting and Goat Girl.
