Paul Townend had to fight back the tears after winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup for the third time in his career.
On board hot favourite Galopin des Champs, Townend bided his time and came from behind to win the biggest race of the week for trainer Willie Mullins.
Immediately after the race, ITV's Matt Chapman caught up with Townend to talk through his performance which AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh both praised as spectacular. Overcome with emotion, the Corkman struggled to put into words how much the win meant to him.
"It wasn't clean that's for sure, everywhere I went I ran into a bit of trouble," said Townend.
"I had full faith in him that he was going to get me out of trouble and he did. Proper, proper horse.
"I was delighted to see them all going at it in front of me. It allowed me to be the last one on the scene.
"This race is just different. It brings winning to a different level"
