Emotional Luke Williams describes Wealdstone win fitting to honour Jason Turner

On an emotional afternoon at Meadow Lane, Luke Williams has explained that his side's 3-0 win was fitting to honour Jason Turner in the club's first fixture since the sad passing of the 50-year-old a week ago.

This weekend would have marked Mr. Turner's seven-year anniversary at the club, and this group of Magpies players produced yet another impressive performance after a tough week off the pitch.

Goals from Sam Austin, Macaulay Langstaff, and Frank Vincent took Notts' points total to 100 for the campaign, reclaiming top spot in the National League following Wrexham's shock 3-1 defeat to Halifax Town this afternoon.

Ahead of kick-off, supporters paid their respects to the late Mr. Turner as a book of condolences was left in the club shop for those wanting to share their support to do so, along with players wearing black armbands and t-shirts during the warm-ups.

A minute's applause also took place shortly before the first whistle was blown, with the entirety of the staff at the club joining Williams and his matchday squad down on the touchline to help celebrate the life of a special person at this football club.

"I think that was fitting for Jason," Williams told BBC Nottingham on ending a difficult week with a win and a performance to match.

"To score three goals and to keep a clean sheet at home, in the end, felt about right.

"We lost somebody in the game who is everything that is good in the game, all the top stuff, he is the example of that.

"There are some bad examples of that in football and I am sure there is that in every industry, but he was the very best example of saying that somebody who lived for the football club until you met Jason Turner and worked with him, you don't understand what that means to live for a football club.

"He is in every single stitch, every fabric of this club, it is Jason Turner."
