Emotional Fernando Ricksen tribute paid as Rangers and Feyenoord players stop to take part

Feyenoord and Rangers players stopped during their game to take part in an applause for Fernando Ricksen.

The Ibrox hero passed away on Wednesday and after an impeccably served minute's silence, supporters rose to their feet to applaud Ricksen's memory in the second minute.

Incredibly, both sets of players and management also stopped the game to pay their respects.

The likes of Ryan Jack, Alfredo Morelos and Glen Kamara could all be seen taking part as well as Feyenoord gaffer Jaap Stam.

Feyenoord had a throw in at the time and they took their time to applaud before referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz ordered them to continue the game.

While the minute's applause was taking place, Rangers fans unveiled a banner which read: "A warrior until the end. Rest easy Fernando."

Many Rangers fans also wore orange shirts due to Ricksen's Dutch heritage.

The Ibrox hero picked up 12 caps for his country at a time when the Netherlands were a force in world football.

Rangers players and staff, including manager Steven Gerrard, wore black armbands in memory of Ricksen.

The 43-year-old was widely loved at the club and among supporters with a huge amount of tributes left outside the ground.
