Emotional Emmerdale viewers 'in tears' after historic Paddy Dingle episode

Emmerdale viewers were left emotional following Friday night's historical episode.

During the episode, vieweres saw some of the men stay behind in The Woolpack for a lock-in. This was the first time the ITV soap has done an all-male episode.

The episode focused on the mental health struggles of Paddy Dingle, following the collapse of his marriage to Chas. Some of the Emmerdale favourites spoke openly about their mental health struggles which led viewers to hail it an important episode.

Paddy recently fled the village following his split from Chas, he is now back home safely and Marlon wants to do anything to help his friend recover and wants to encourage the other men to open up. Ahead of the episode, Emmerdale worked with mental health charities Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club.

Viewers took to social media to praise the storyline, with many speaking out about how important Friday's show was to them. Some went as far as saying it was the soap's best ever episode.

Shelley said: "Absolutely brilliant episode, I’ve cried a few times over the past few weeks with this story! Excellent from everyone involved and loved seeing the softer side of Cain! "

Betty thanked the production team, saying: "Thank you Emmerdale, great episode, you absolutely nailed it. Well done to the male cast, you portraided it beautifully."

Debra said: "I don't normally watch it, but glad I did. shed a few tears, people can never understand what it's like to want to end your life, hopefully tonight people might understand

"Its not about what you have its about how feel about yourself, or how people make you feel. Hopefully we will all be a little bit kinder when someone is broken

"Think about our actions and our words."

Brenda commented: "One of Emerdale's best episodes. Such an emotional one. Cain was brilliant as was every actor. Well done on tackling such an important issue. Powerful."

Clair added: "God I cried. My tears were of so much respect for the pain each and everyone of them felt. They all had a story, some more prominent, some just a few lines. BUT it didn't matter because they all smashed it."

Sharon said: "Best episode in ages ,done really well and very realistic"

Kay commented: "Such a powerful and informative episode"

Angela said: "It was brilliant episode last night touched on so many emotions I lost my sister to suicide and will never understand why. I have also watched someone in paddy’s place but hopefully there on the right track now"

On Sunday, Emmerdale viewers rushed to support actor Danny Miller after he opened up about his own battle with depression following the special episode of the soap. The Aaron Dingle actor took to Twitter on Sunday to share his own personal views about Friday night's groundbreaking episode, which he said made him "cry like a little boy".
