Eamonn Holmes is going to have an operation tomorrow which has a "20 percent risk of going wrong".
The GB News presenter, 62, hopes the procedure will relive him of his chronic back pain, after he dislocated his pelvis and a trapped sciatic nerve in 2021.
Explaining what his operation entailed, he said: "This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.
"It’s an operation that carries a 20 percent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take.
"I pray that God will guide my surgeon’s hand this week and help me get back to the man I used to be," reports the Express.
The father-of-four often tweets about the effects of chronic pain, pointing out the "mental effects" need to be addressed.
Eamonn was recently supported by fans after a flare up kept him awake into the early hours.
The much-loved presenter had spent a long day on his feet on Monday while broadcasting from Queen Elizabeth's funeral, and following the momentous day, Eamonn shared some hope with his followers who are also struggling with chronic pain.
Tweeting at 1.30am earlier this month, the TV veteran said: "Hello all my #ChronicPain sufferers... I know [it's] not much help but it does help a little I feel to know we are not alone."
In June, the former This Morning presenter thanked the ‘angels’ of the NHS as he broke his silence on why he was rushed to hospital earlier in the month.
The presenter was forced to pull out of hosting coverage of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on GB News, and subsequently was unable to be on one of the open-top buses alongside wife Ruth Langsford during the Platinum Pageant outside Buckingham Palace in London.
While Eamonn kept quiet on the reasons behind his hospital trip, he then admitted he was rushed to Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital Spinal Injuries unit after waking up in the middle of the night in agony.
The Northern Irishman admitted that the problem was at its worst while he was filming BBC's Farm to Feast last year.
"I had crutches, and every time there was a shot with me I threw them aside, but I couldn’t balance. But I just soldier through," he told us.
After his operation, Eamonn will be taking a break from his GB News presenting duties, explaining that right now, he doesn't know how long he'll be off for.
