Emmerdale writer Sharon Marshall has promised "massive" scenes ahead for newcomer Caleb Miligan, while she also explained how Caleb is related to his long-lost brother Cain Dingle.
Fans had been left trying to work out who Caleb's parents were following the news of his arrival last week.
It was revealed Cain knows about his secret sibling, while Caleb is also related to Chas who seemingly doesn't know about him.
Viewers questioned if Caleb was the son of Chas and Cain's mother Faith Dingle, or if he was the son of Chas' late father Shadrach.
Now, soap writer Sharon has revealed all as she teased there were big scenes ahead in 2023 following Caleb's debut.
Speaking on This Morning on Tuesday, Sharon confirmed Caleb was related to his siblings via their mother Faith, and that he is her secret son.
She spilled: "Caleb Miligan is the long-lost brother of Cain and Chas. So Faith had another child, people were asking who the mother was.
"Cain knew about him but kept it a secret. He's got lots of questions he wants answering."
She went on: "There's huge consequences of the big actions over Christmas. Caleb is going to be massive."
It comes following the news that actor Will Ash had joined the soap as Caleb, and he would be debuting towards the end of the year on Christmas Day.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said of the news: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Will Ash to the Village.
"It's fantastic to have such a high calibre and immensely talented actor join our wonderful team. Arriving on screen on Christmas Day, Caleb has to undoubtedly be the most unexpected and shocking Christmas gift Cain and Chas have ever received!

"What secrets from the past will come back to haunt them and how will the rest of the family react when Caleb strolls into town?
"His arrival certainly promises to shake things up for the Dingles and make 2023 start off with a huge bang!"
Actor Will said of joining the ITV soap: "I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show. Emmerdale is packed full of fantastic actors and I'm really looking forward to working alongside them. Caleb is a fantastically complex character and I can’t wait to get stuck in."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
