Emmerdale viewers 'work out' cause of Arthur's erratic behaviour

Emmerdale viewers suspect Arthur's erratic behaviour is the start of a coming-out storyline.

Arthur has been struggling to deal with his father's death but it appears there is more on his mind than grief. In tonight's episode, the troubled teen visited his dad's grave but was soon joined by the village's vicar, Charles, who opened up an emotional conversation that left Arthur on the verge of tears.

Revealing he didn't think his father would be proud of him, Arthur said he "failed" his dad without explaining in what sense. He added: "[My dad] had plans for me. He wanted me to follow down his path but I can't do it. What if he's watching me up there and he's disappointed?"

Charles said Arthur didn't need to follow his father's path, who was also a vicar, for him to be loved. As they tiptoed around the cause of his troubling thoughts, some viewers suspected it was the beginning of Arthur coming out.

The new storyline which would explain the teen's erratic behaviour and heightened emotions.

One viewer said: "I know Marcus has realised Arthur is gay but Charles got very close to the truth without realising it or did he?"

Another added: "I think Arthur is gay, the way he was talking to Charles. Who matter your sexuality or race etc always be true to yourself."

Whilst a third said: "Arthur gonna be another gay son of a vicar?" A final said: "Arthur is gay I think."

After heading back to the village, Arthur let his anger out at classmate April after she asked to hang out. Calling her "desperate" for a boyfriend, he shut down her friendly offer in a fit of rage.
