Emmerdale viewers urge Billy to do 'right thing' over confession

Emmerdale viewers have issued a plea after Alex Moore was left fighting for his life following a hit-and-run.

Alex, who is Dawn Taylor's ex and Naomi Walters' current boyfriend, remains in hospital and it is unclear whether or not he will survive. The accident has put Charles Anderson in the firing line with police arresting the vicar after finding damage on his car.

Despite Charles insisting he had nothing to do with the accident, not even his own daughter Naomi believed him. However, she was in for a surprise, when she accidentally overheard Clare at Alex's bedside, revealing that he had robbed the pharmacy before he was run down.

Meanwhile, a guilt-ridden Billy told Dawn that he wants to hand himself in as he couldn't risk Charles going to prison for his mistake. He said: "You have no idea what it was like in prison.

"What I went through. I can't expect anyone to go through that for me."

Dawn asked: "What are you saying?" To which he replied: "I'm saying if the police don't drop this stuff against Charles, I've got to hand myself in."

Viewers were onboard with his decision and even urged him to go through with it. @Margare16040532 wrote on Twitter: "Dismal Dawn really needs to let Billy do the right thing-the first criminal in the history of Emmerdale to do so."

Unhappy with the storyline, @emmdeeaitch commented: "All Billy had to do was call the police and an ambulance as soon as he hit Alex. It was an accident.

"Given the custody hearing was over, there was nothing to gain from hurting Alex it would have been treated as such... or not, this show's getting silly."

@pam_debeauvoir tweeted: "Yes Billy, you should have told the truth but that would be weird, given nobody in the village knows what that is."

@Chris1968E said: "Yes Billy of course you have to go to the police because you're the only honest upstanding ex-con in the village."

However, not everyone agreed. @Dan240993 wrote: "I hope Billy doesn’t hand himself in."

And @Jamie27A_ urged: "Billy, keep your mouth shut."
