Emmerdale viewers thrilled as 'missing' character returns to village

Emmerdale viewers were delighted to see a familiar face return to the village after more than a month of being away.

Wednesday's instalment of the Yorkshire-based ITV soap saw a frantic David worry about his finances. It began with Rodney only buying a small number of items from his shop.

Rodney explained he did his "big shop" at the supermarket, as it was cheaper. Things went from bad to worse as Priya arrived, telling David his maintenance money for their daughter Amber had not yet arrived in her account.

David seemed surprised, but then when Priya asked if he had transferred it, he said: "Yeah... I think" and explained he had been busy.

Priya then noticed her dad, Rishi, in the corner of the shop. Later in the episode, Rishi was also seen chatting to David about his money worries.

Rishi has not been seen in Emmerdale since April, when scenes saw him try to persuade son Jai to go back to rehab. An unhappy Jai lashed out, and was determined to convince his father he was not back on drugs.

Many watching at home on Wednesday evening were clearly thrilled to see Rishi back after more than a month. Taking to Twitter, Ray said: "YAY! Rishi".

Lydia said: "Oh hey Rishi, wondered where you'd been #Emmerdale". Gav said: "And heeeeeere’s Rishi."

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub - except for this week where there is a schedule shakeup
