Emmerdale viewers slam brutal violent attack on Nicola as 'not suitable' pre watershed

Emmerdale viewers have slammed tonight's episode as "unsuitable for early evening TV" after Nicola King was brutally attacked by a gang of teens in a deserted carpark.

Nicola had been out for drinks with her sister Bernice and Laurel and ran into two drunk girls on her way to her car. One of the girls boldly asks her for booze before they get into a verbal sparring.

The conversation soon turns ugly when more teenage girls turn up and corner Nicola. She is mugged, beaten and left bloodied on the ground before losing consciousness.

ITV viewers have criticised the plotline and said that despite the disclaimer at the start of the show the episode was not appropriate for early evening TV. Others were not happy over the teenagers' portrayal.

One fan wrote: "Any actual point in this especially before 9 again?!"

Another tweeted: "#emmerdale even with a warning not suitable for early evening TV."

Chris P said: "#Emmerdale again Emmerdale bosses making young people thugs & s***bags. What the f*** is wrong with them."

And Pam commented: "Who's bright idea was it to have Nicola beaten and humiliated. That was a difficult watch. Please have them prosecuted #Emmerdale."

The episode ended with one of the girls whispering "I'm sorry" before running off. It comes after Mary's "beautiful" coming out scene yesterday left viewers emotional.

Mary, who moved to the village to patch things up with her daughter Rhona and start fresh, opened up about her sexuality to Kim Tate. Tonight's episode saw her come out to Rhona but viewers were not happy about how Mary's daughter handled the situation.

Initially, she appeared supportive before accusing Mary of making her and her husband "live a lie" and storming off. Fans branded her "toxic" and a "hypocrite".

Sal wrote on Twitter: "Time we had a conversation about what a toxic person Rhona is. She’s always been a shit friend to her bestie and now she’s a shit daughter to her mother."

Carole said: "Rhona is such a hypocrite. Has she forgotten her relationship with Vanessa? #Emmerdale."

And another viewer commented: "Just when I thought Rhona was taking Mary's news with maturity and genuine interest, she goes and flips it around to herself #Emmerdale."
