Emmerdale viewers were in disbelief as they wondered if they were watching Fawlty Towers in tonight's show.
Wednesday's edition of the long-running soap saw the grand opening of Bernice Blackstock and Bob Hope's B&B. The characters had staged a glamorous party to commemorate the opening.
However, the event descended into chaos after Bernice spent the night with Tim the harpist. Bob went to wake the harpist as people were arriving and was horrified to discover he had died.

Tim's body was in the Judi Dench suite and the B&B owners desperately tried to stop a highly regarded reviewer from entering the room and stumble upon a horrifying discovery.
Bernice and Bob came up with a variety of ludicrous reasons to prevent her from entering the room before a twist revealed Tim was still alive. The harpist revealed he was in a deep sleep and he went downstairs to provide a elegant soundtrack to what proved to be a successful grand opening.
Viewers following the show on Twitter were in hysterics after the comedic scenes, with some likening the farce to BBC classic Fawlty Towers.
Matthew said: "Well after that B&B opening, I'm off to find a car and a tree branch since that was all very Fawlty Towers! See you tomorrow for the weekly hour-long farce"
Dan added: "This is turning very Basil Fawlty and Fawlty Towers tonight, with trying to hide what they believe is the “dead” body of the harpist"
Jo commented: "Tonight's #Emmerdale is like an episode of Fawlty towers"
Amie tweeted: "It’s all going a bit fawlty towers this"
