Emmerdale stars rush to support Lisa Riley as she battles 'horrendous' Covid

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, best known for her role as Mandy Dingle on the long running ITV soap has issued a health update as she lists problematic symptoms.

The actress, who has been a familiar face in the Dales since 1995, took to Instagram to tell her 186k followers that she has been hit with coronavirus and is experiencing some particularly nasty side effects.

Posting a snap of her positive lateral flow test, the 46-year-old soap star penned: "DAY 3 of this horrible Covid experience…….it’s really really rotten horrendous sore throat, coughing, endless coughing, and all round feel like absolute s**t!!!! For everyone else with this strain, I feel your pain hopefully feeling stronger soon."

It wasn't long before Lisa's co-stars, past and present, flooded the comments section with well wishes and tips to beat the dreaded lurgy. Former Emmerdale and Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley replied: "Raw Garlic shots. Two cloves of garlic , a whole lemon inc skin, water, ginger. Whizz it up. Also Liposomal Vit C Amd NAC. Get well soon love xxxxx"

Kerry Wyatt star Laura Norton said: "Get well" followed by a heart emoji, while Daisy Campbell, who plays the role of Amelia spencer said: "Get better soon! Xx". Other celeb pals and fans alike also offered their support, Kate Thornton said: "I had it for the third time last week so feel your pain! Sorry we aren’t chatting today, hope to catch up next week when you’re feeling better lovely x."

Fay wrote: "Ahh nooo....drink some mullion tea....it opens up the lungs and breath in to a slow count of 5 and out to a slow count of 5..stay calm and don't get upset...you will get better...love and best wishes Lisa x"

While Cat added: "I need an eye test for a moment there I thought you were pregnant then realised it is covid. Hope you feel better soon x" Sam said: "Disgusting headache, like my head was squashed in pain and on fire. TBH...2 days were horrific and nothing helped even with paracetamol...but soon eased xx."
