Emmerdale star teases 'heartbreak' for the Dingles ahead of 'pain and grief'

Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley has revealed there is "heartbreak" ahead for the Dingle family, after earlier spoilers revealed it was a big year for the village residents.

The Mandy Dingle actress promised scenes that would see the family unite and stand together, as heartache comes their way.

While remaining coy on the storyline, and keeping back any details, she hinted there were emotional scenes to come later in the year, that would impact all of the Dingles.

With it teased in January that the much-loved family would face a mixture of grief, joy and despair, the star has not appeared to give any hints about the upcoming scenes ahead of more details being revealed.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Lisa revealed there was a lot ahead for the Dingle clan, especially her character Mandy.

She said: "We have got so much coming up as well. I mentioned about Mandy and Paddy but again you can have two characters who were married and who are the best of friends.

"It's a deep-rooted loyalty and trust that Mandy and Paddy have and this is gonna go on into the future."

It was recently teased that two Dingles would take centre stage in a new storyline later this year, so could it be Paddy and Mandy?

On sad scenes ahead, Lisa told us: "We've got some heartbreak, serious heartbreak coming in the Dingles and of course when there is heartbreak in with the Dingles, we all stick together like glue."

It comes after soap bosses teased a huge year for the family that could see "agony, pain and grief" in the village.

Speaking to press including The Mirror in January, soap boss Laura Shaw revealed: "There is lots going on for the Dingles as we head into 2022.

"Two of our most loved Dingles are going to be facing huge life-changing situations that are going to have repercussions for the whole village.

"The effects of this are going to be long-lasting over the course of 2022 and into 2023.

"In the next few months, we'll see drama, joy, fun, laughter, agony, pain, grief and despair hit this family. They will pulled into a lot of directions and be at the heart of our very biggest stories this year."

The soap celebrates its 50th anniversary later this year, and the Dingles are thought to be a huge part of this.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
