Dean Andrews will beg Emmerdale bosses to let him leave should the proposed new series of BBC drama Life On Mars ever see the light of day.
As fans of the soap know, Dean, 58, from Rotherham, plays Will Taylor in Emmerdale. Since Dean joined the soap back in 2019 the character of Will has been involved in some rather meaty storylines.
Before Emmerdale, Dean was best known for playing copper Ray Carling in the popular Life On Mars and BBC follow up Ashes to Ashes. The nostalgic shows were about injured police officers waking up back in time.

Ashes To Ashes concluded in 2010 and it seemed to bring an end to the tales of the iconic DIC Gene Hunt and his team. Although there are strong rumours suggesting the drama, which also starred Philip Glenister and John Simm, will be returning.
Dean has given the Express an update on where the Life On Mars revival currently stands. Dean said: "It seems to be something that is still ongoing. And you know, if I was a betting man, I might put a couple of quid on it."
So, if Life On Mars does return surely Ray Carling will be back with the rest of the gang. Where does this leave Dean’s role in Emmerdale?
As we’ve previously reported, Dean will be desperate to be reunited with his former co-stars. Last year, he said: “The writers Matt Graham and Ashley Pharoah are in the process of writing four or five episodes, and getting everybody back together who wants to come back.
"I believe Phil (Glenister) and John (Simm) are very, very excited about it, Daniel Mays, myself...they are hoping everyone wants to come back, and they want to make the story back in the 70s and the 80s and the modern day.
"I’ve just got to try and beg Emmerdale at some point in my life, if they still want me." We reckon they might well do.
