Emmerdale star Adam Thomas set to star in Strictly Come Dancing

Emmerdale's Adam Thomas has claimed he will be taking part in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

In an interview with Mail Online, the 33-year-old said he will be putting on his dancing shoes for the next series of the BBC ballroom competition expected to return in Autumn. Ready to dive head first into Strictly, Adam said he wants to get the full experience, even joking about the dreaded "Strictly curse" that sees the celebs have an affair with their dance partners.

He said: "Bring it all on I love a bit of glitz and glam. I was going to say something then, but it might get blown out of context… I just want to experience the Strictly curse!

"I think they should have cameras behind the scenes; it's a good shout you heard it here first. I'm not the best dancer in the world, I wish. Though once I've had a drink, I do believe I'm the best dancer in the world. Sober it is a completely different story. I have never won anything in my life so it would be nice but I'm not necessarily competitive."

He added: "I try to do my best in anything I sign up to but as cheesy and cliché as it sounds it's about the journey and experience you go through."

His former Emmerdale co-star, Kevin Fletcher, lifted the Glitterball trophy back in 2019 which has set Adam's competitive nature alight. He added: "Kelvin surprised us all… we knew he could dance but not to that extent. We would always go out and have a bit of a dance and he would pull out the Kelvin shuffle but I never knew he had that in his locker.

"I'd have to win it or he'd never let me live it down. Not only that, he won Strictly and now he's at the National Theatre so he's really starting to p*** me off a little bit!"

Adam's comments come after he initially denied the reports that he would be taking part in Strictly this year.

Adam took to his Instagram Story in May to put the rumours to bed, saying: "As much as I'd love this to be true unfortunately it's not."

Rumours have surfaced regarding who else will be taking part in this year's show including celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo, Olympian Tom Daley and comedian Dawn French.
