Emmerdale has shared a series of behind the scenes clips to their official Instagram as the ITV soap continues with it's 50th anniversary drama but fans were distracted by Sam Dingle star James Hooton's accent.
Sam Dingle is known for his thick Yorkshire accent but in reality, James sounds nothing like his rural character. He keeps a low profile when not filming and rarely gives interviews, so his real voice has come as a shock to many.
In a behind the scenes clip posted on Emmerdale's official Instagram account, the ITV soap reveals that a stunt double was used to perform Sam's recent graphic scenes.

However, while the clip shows many impressive stunts and filming techniques, it was the actors accent that surprised fans the most.
The comments section of the clip, which has since amassed 87,732 views, was quickly flooded by astonished fans. One Emmerdale said: "Love sam and it's so weird to hear him speak when out of character", a second added: "James’ accent never fails to surprise me", while a third penned: "An absolutely brilliant actor."
But it's not the first time it's been pointed out, during a rare appearance on This Morning last year, viewers were left gobsmacked as they noticed James he sounded completely different to his character Sam.
At the time viewers took to Twitter to share their disbelief over James’ Nottinghamshire drawl. Taking to Twitter at the time, one fan penned: "Sam Dingle sounds so different in real life." A second pointed out: "Sam Dingle talks well posh in real life wtf. He usually sounds like a such a thug."
Actor James Hooton is best known for his portrayal of Sam Dingle on the long-running soap, a role in which he has played for 29 years. The 47-year-old actor is one of the longest-running actors on Emmerdale and has dominated the soap's storylines ever since his arrival in 1995.
Sam is a firm favourite among viewers, he has been involved in some of the soap's most thrilling and devastating storylines, most recently viewers saw him impaled by a tractor spike leaving him dicing with death.
