Emmerdale's Zoe Henry recalls 'emotional' filming of Marlon and Rhona's wedding

Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry has spoken of how "emotional" and "lovely" it was to film the scenes for Marlon and Rhona's wedding - which is set to air on our screens on Thursday night. The 48-year-old, who plays Rhona Goskirk on the ITV soap, joined Lorraine host Ranvir Singh on Thursday ahead of tonight's episode.

Marlon (played by Mark Charnock) and Rhona have been at the forefront of some powerful storylines this year, following Marlon's stroke back in March. They have experienced ups and downs as they navigate their relationship following Marlon's illness and their engagement and nuptials were previously put on hold.

But throughout the last week, preparations have been underway for their big day and in last night's episode the pair were separately enjoying their final night before getting hitched, when Marlon collapsed in front of best friend Paddy. The final scenes saw him stuck in hospital overnight, as doctors wanted to monitor his high blood pressure.

In true soap land style, his wedding day may not start off smooth sailing but Emmerdale fans will be rooting for the pair to finally tie the knot and it looks like tonight we might finally see them celebrate their special day. Presenter Ranvir asked Zoe what it was like to film the wedding scenes. "Really lovely, really emotional. Caroline Mitchell was the writer of the episode and she's just brilliant, she knows those characters well and she writes beautifully," Zoe said.

“And also rather selfishly as actors, it was wonderful to have so many people on set," She explained: "Because of the Covid restrictions and how we've been shooting over the last two years. This is the first time we've had more than sort of 10 people on set together, everyone was really giddy and really excited."

Asked what the soap star could tell viewers about the show's upcoming 50th anniversary, Zoe replied: "Well not much because I'll probably lose my job if I do. But I also don't know a great deal because you often don't know stuff until you're just about to shoot it.

"Yes there is a storm. There's some very heavy duty wind machines in the village... they were being tested when I was in the other week - they were quite noisy," she explained before adding: "I think it's going to be quite a rollercoaster."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV and ITV Hub from 7.30pm.
