Emmerdale's Zoe Henry admits she prefers not having to film scenes with co-star husband Jeff Hordley

Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry lifted the lid on her real life marriage to co-star Jeff Hordley on Lorraine this morning and why they enjoy not sharing the screen too much.

The actress, who plays Rhona Goskirk on Emmerdale, appeared on the ITV show this morning to discuss her character's reaction to on-screen fiancé Marlon Dingle's powerful storyline.

The two characters finally got engaged after decades of an on-and-off relationship, only for Marlon to suffer a debilitating stroke.

Zoe told Lorraine: "It is a shame. They finally got to that point of it being the right moment and everything turned."

She praised the creators, crew and cast for how they put the storyline together, as well as the help they had from the Stroke Association.

Zoe added: "We tell stories that resonate and mean a great deal to people. With something like this it was so important we get it right. They've written it brilliantly."

Both Zoe and Mark Charnock were praised for their performances in last night's episode.

She also teased that the storyline will see how Marlon's stroke impacts April and the other Dingles such as Paddy.

In real life, however, Zoe is married to Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle on the ITV soap. They got together 28 years ago while attending drama school, and have been together ever since.

Despite being on the same show though, the two rarely have screen time together.

When Lorraine asked Zoe about that, she said it was "great" her and Jeff don't have much to do with each other at work, and that they enjoy being able to have separate working lives on the show.

However, the couple do learn their lines together behind the scenes.

Together, Zoe and Jeff have two kids, two dogs and an allotment. They alternate who is in charge of these depending on who is busier on Emmerdale at a given time - so while Zoe is having an intense storyline at the moment her husband is keeping things in line at home.

They also showed Lorraine a picture of a giant cauliflower they grew in their "happy place" allotment. Zoe said it was so big they were able to feed their family of four for a week.
