Emmerdale's Vinny Dingle actor 'really emotional' over 'heartfelt' funeral scenes

Emmerdale actor Bradley Johnson revealed he was "really emotional" filming sad scenes for his character Vinny Dingle, as he attends the funeral of his tragic wife Liv Flaherty this week.

Liv was killed during the storm this month, when a caravan crushed her and left her with fatal injuries.

Vinny has been struggling in the fallout to her death, and is lashing out at his loved ones - particularly his mum Mandy Dingle.

New spoiler pictures have revealed the heartbreaking scenes ahead, as the village says goodbye to Liv and Faith Dingle at their joint funeral.

Residents will line the main street in the village as the hearses carrying their coffins pass through, and Vinny says a final farewell to his late wife.

Speaking ahead of the episode, actor Bradley revealed how "emotional" it was to see all the cast together, and to bid farewell to the departed cast members.

He explained: "It was so emotional because we were doing some acting down at the bottom of the village, so we did not see everyone lined up on Main Street.

"But the director, Vicky, came down and said, 'Right Bradley, I want you to walk around the corner and as you look up, you will see all the whole cast and they are gonna throw roses as the coffin goes past'.

"My head was down so the first time I saw everyone was when the camera tilted round, and because of Covid and stuff it's a rare sight to see every adult cast member being there, so it was really, really emotional.

"Having the coffins there, and the hearses with their names on, it was a really emotional day but it should look amazing and heartfelt."

On whether it felt real, and as though they were really saying goodbye, he went on: "Since Izzy [ Isobel Steele ] left it's been probably about three weeks now, and it has just felt like Izzy was on a long holiday.

"So when we did the funeral with the hearse with Liv's name on it, and the photos, it became real to me that I am not gonna be working with Izzy again. It was quite sad for me."

Bradley also discussed the future for Vinny, and whether he will stop pushing his loved ones away.

He said: "He's not very good up to date. He is in a really horrible and dark place. He is pining for Liv, and he is missing her loads.

"He has got a long road to recovery ahead of him, but I am sure with the support of the Dingles and his mum, and Chip the dog, he will get there."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
