Emmerdale's Victoria faces further despair as rapist's mum unexpectedly appears

Emmerdale's Victoria Sugden will faces further despair when her rapist's mum rocks up in the village.

Lee's mother, Wendy, will make an unexpected appearance in the Dales as she tries to defend her son.

Trouble looms large for Victoria, who doesn't know whether Wendy is aware that she is pregnant with her grandchild.

Wendy will be played by esteemed actress Susan Cookson, who is famous for starring in Casualty and Cold Feet.

Susan Cookson said: "I am thrilled and delighted to be joining the community, both on and off screen, that is Emmerdale.

Lee raped Victoria during the Big Night Out episodes (ITV)

"I am also excited about tackling all the gritty and emotional storylines that are ahead for my character Wendy. I'm thrilled to be playing such a fantastic character."

Executive Producer Jane Hudson added: "Susan is a fabulous addition to the cast and we are delighted to have welcomed her onto the Emmerdale team.

"She is a brilliant actor and we can’t wait for the drama Wendy brings to play out."

Robert has already tracked down sister Victoria’s rapist, Lee (ITV)

Susan has actually already appeared as two different characters in Emmerdale.

She starred as DI Judy Grove for eight episodes in 2003, after appearing as a garage attendant in 1993.

Bizarrely, she played a very similar role in Coronation Street in 2006 as evil Callum Logan's mum.

Susan played Callum’s mother Marion, who called at No. 8 wanting answers about his whereabouts (ITV)

Marion kept hassling Sarah Platt and was determined to have contact with her grandson Harry.

Susan's Emmerdale character could do exactly the same thing to Victoria when she discovers she is pregnant.

Does Wendy know Victoria is pregnant with Lee’s baby and should she find out how would she react?

Emmerdale fans have pleaded with show bosses to make sure that Victoria gets justice.

One viewer said: "Please just make sure that Vic gets justice! And don't make Lee the victim in all of this again..."

"As long as Lee gets the comeuppance he deserves. It would be disgusting if the storyline carries on with him getting away with it," added another.

A third said: "I have a terrible feeling that you are taking this storyline down a dark murky unthinkable path & now you’re bringing his mum into it, my suspicions are raised even more."

*Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7pm with an extra episode on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm
