With death and destruction well on the way and heading towards Emmerdale village, here's what we know so far about the big stunt week that will air from Sunday, including the 50th birthday episode.

More than one character dies

Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson has confirmed more than one character will lose their life in the deadly storm.

While the deaths are remaining under wraps until transmission, the producer revealed it won't just be one resident meeting a tragic end, and hinted there could be several deaths on the way - following the passing of Faith Dingle prior to the stunt week.

Jane promised each death would deliver its own story and impact, as emotions run high when lives are left in grave danger.

Teasing the big scenes ahead, Jane told of there being "funerals" ahead, and said: "We will be having some huge stunts, big emotional heartache, secrets, lies, comedy and sadly, some of the soap’s much-loved characters will sadly lose their lives."

A stunt no one else has done

(ITV)

Emmerdale has confirmed one of the big stunts during the storm week will be a cow stampede, that leaves lives on the line.

Bosses recently teased that one part of the week had never been done before, and could only be done by Emmerdale - and it appears they were talking about the stampede.

Spoilers confirm that the cows at Moira Dingle's farm end up escaping their barn, which is collapsing around them in the wind.

As the cows get out, it's not long before the storm panics them and they begin to stampede.

Show designer Duncan Howell has also revealed details, and appeared to confirm the cows would charge at some characters and leave them in danger.

Multiple stunts - and a cliffhanger

Emmerdale directors Ian Bevitt and Tim O’Mara have shared on the big challenges they faced filming the 50th anniversary episodes (ITV)

The soap's bosses have said three almighty stunts will unfold during the big storm week.

Not only that, but there will be a massive cliffhanger to really keep viewers on edge - and scenes that will spark storylines which will continue into next year.

Whatever happens during the big storm week, there will be lasting consequences for the months and years ahead it seems.

Jane Hudson said: "We have so many stories across one month and alongside that, we have three epic stunts. We don’t die down after the stunts either because we end on a huge cliff-hanger."

A wedding and a baby

Emmerdale could be lining up the showdowns of all showdowns next week, as Harriet Finch and Kim Tate clash (ITV)

Two key moments in soap land are weddings and the birth of new characters, and Emmerdale's 50th has both.

It's not confirmed yet whether pregnant teenager Amelia Spencer does give birth during the big week, but she does go into labour after getting trapped in the storm.

Meanwhile, Kim Tate is set to marry her partner Will Taylor during the milestone, with this set to air during the show's 50th birthday episode on Sunday.

Village destroyed

Emmerdale have given a glimpse at what fans can expect from the deadly windstorm (ITV)

It's been revealed that debris and rubble will surround the village, as it is destroyed by the strong winds in the storm.

The characters who survive the ordeal will be left surveying the damage, including at The Woolpack, with the community forced to rebuild.

It's not known exactly what happens to different areas in the village, or how bad the damage is.
