Emmerdale actor James Hooton has dropped some major hints that his character Sam Dingle really could be dead following his gory run-in with a tractor.
As part of ITV’s 50th anniversary, the village where hit with a horrific storm and show bosses teased deaths and heartache to mark the soap's milestone.
During Monday’s episode, as the storm continued to cause havoc, the first two victims were revealed and Sam Dingle was one of them, as well as Harriet.

Unfortunately Harriet died after a lightning strike blew up a quad bike which almost killed Kim Tate. Not long after Sam fell victim of the storm - while trying to fix a gate at the barn with Belle and Nate.
It didn’t go to plan and the cows ended up stampeding in panic. But Sam thought it would be a good idea to jump over the hay bales to escape - and at first it seemed like he’d managed to flee.
But viewers were left gobsmacked as they witnessed a brutal scene in which Sam was slumped across a digger, with the spikes of the shovel piercing his now lifeless body.
It was not confirmed for sure on the episode whether Sam is alive or dead, but actor James Hooton has hinted that his character Sam may in fact be dead - unless it was all a game of misdirection.
Tweeting to his followers he joked: “Did anything happen in @emmerdale tonight?”
He then went on to post: “Feel like I’ve been spiked,” referring to his gory scene. His final Tweet is what got fans worried as he added: “Ok…I get it….you’re supposed to throw the javelin, not land on it. DEAD funny me.”
Viewers are now left pleading with show bosses to not to kill off the much-loved character. Commenting under a behind the scene clip on Emmerdale’s official Instagram @Marygeoghegan59 commented: “Please please not Sam I can’t deal. He is the heart of Emmerdale.”
@mrsbrewinx said: “please don’t kill Sam off.” @Jm_dingle_ wrote: “Sam is one of the best Emmerdale characters surely they can’t kill him off.”
@Karenarchibaldx begged: “Please save Sam.” While @Rora_Jein added: “I gasped when I saw Sam, I knew he would be hurt but wasn’t expecting that! Poor Harriet too.”
