Emmerdale's Zoe Henry says Rhona Goskirk will be left "terrified" as her ex Pierce makes a shock return to the ITV soap.
Rhona finally rid herself of her evil ex-husband when he was jailed for raping her - but now he's set to make a surprise return to the show as he gets in contact via a letter to deliver some terrible news to Rhona.
From prison, Pierce tells Rhona he is dying and he needs her help - to locate his long lost son Marcus.
Now, Zoe has teased that the arrival of the letter leaves her "terrified" as he re-enters her life.
"I think a lot of ways, he's dead to her already. He's in prison, he no longer poses a threat specially after the last time he appeared and killed Graham and caused havoc in the village," she told The Mirror and other press.
"She is a compassionate woman and anyone being ill and dying is terribly sad but I think for herself she's managed to put him in a box in her head and compartmentalise him, he doesn't affect her anymore - except he does because when the letter lands, it terrifies her. I don't think she feels sad, I think she feels nothing actually."
When she hears the news that he is dying, Zoe says Rhona is likely to have felt a "sense of relief".
Discussing Rhona's reaction to the news, she added: "I would imagine she thought life meant life and he wouldn't get out again - but with Pierce, who knows. I think there is a sense of relief - this is finally it."
Even Zoe herself was surprised about the news he had a child, as his son Marcus - played by Darcy Gray - arrives in the village.
"I wasn't expecting that he'd have a kid. I knew Pierce had been married to Tess but they never had any children, because Tess had the affair with Paddy. I had never considered there would be a back story beyond than we already knew," she explained.
"She's wary of him but she wants to help. That constant reminder of him, she doesn't want that in the village. She wants to help him but it comes with its boundaries, I guess."
