Former Emmerdale star Reece Dinsdale has hit back at a claim he was ‘axed’ from his acting role in the soap.
Reece Dinsdale, 63, played Paul Ashdale in Emmerdale between April 2000 and April 2021. The star, who also played Joe McIntyre in Coronation Street, answered claims on Twitter that he was ‘axed’ from both shows.
Reece, who is a successful director as well as an acting star, said: “Do you seriously believe that someone ‘axed’ from either show would then get invited to direct both of them which is what I’m just about to do… again.”

Reece also gave some information about his experiences acting in Emmerdale and Corrie. He added: “In 2009, Corrie pleaded with me to extend my contract but I declined and in 2019 Emmerdale asked if I’d join the show for a limited period/specific storyline where the character would be killed off. I accepted.”
Away from the two soaps, Reece has acted in Conviction and Threads among other shows.
