Emmerdale's prison guard Ian has 'link to Leyla' as he betrays Meena

Emmerdale fans were elated when Meena's prison guard Ian appeared to betray her in dramatic scenes.

Last night, Meena was found guilty of Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh's murders. But shortly after the verdict was given, Meena was stabbed by one of her victims' sisters.

As Meena was pretending to be unconscious, Manpreet went to rescue her sister, only for Meena to spring up and hold her hostage with a shard of glass. Attempting an escape, Meena ran out of the courtroom but was shocked to find that her prison guard Ian had betrayed her and not left the exit door unlocked - trapping Meena and Manpreet.

Armed police eventually caught Meena and dragged her back to the courtroom. Following the traumatic scenes, viewers took to Twitter to discuss the episode.

Many felt that despite flirting with Meena, Ian was against her all along, and potentially could have been working with Leyla.

Le-Le said: "Ian set her up! Is he working with Leyla?"

Mick said: "Ian’s let Meens down."

Dam added: "Ian betrayed her."

Amy said: "Well, I have to hand it to Ian. All week been thinking what a wet lemon he was, but no. He saves the day by locking the door!!"

Grianne tweeted: "Looks like Ian wasn't actually as taken in by Meena as she clearly thought. Where did he suddenly disappear too though?"

Ryan said: "Ian the police guard let Meena down I knew he was against her."

And Maxine tweeted: "Ahhh so it’s Leyla who’s connected to Ian ?????"
