Nicky Miligan was nearly exposed on Emmerdale tonight – when an unlikely character rumbled his secret.
The character arrived with his dad Caleb Miligan, yet no one knows that they are related. In a bid to help his dad secure the money they think they deserve from Kim Tate – as their father and grandfather was Frank Tate – he has struck up a romance with Gabby and the pair are set to tie the knot very soon, with her having no idea about his secret.
However, viewers know he is actually gay and is in love with someone called Ally and struggling with the idea of marrying Gabby.
It looks like it won't be long until his secret is exposed – as Gabby's mum Bernice appeared to rumble his secret.
As they sat down to have a drink together, Gabby asked her mother if she would be the one to walk her down the aisle. Bernice then said she would love to and it would be the last time she walks down the aisle herself, despite being married four times.
She admitted two of her exes had come out as gay, before joking with Nicky if he had any secrets.
He looked visibly nervous as Gabby scolded her mum, insisting there was nothing to worry about with Nicky and he was certainly straight and there was 'no closet' whilst viewers know the truth.
Fans found it hilarious that Bernice might be the one to expose Nicky's secret.
"Bernice is funny, 'Nicky has nice skin are you sure he is not gay' #Emmerdale @emmerdale," one wrote, as a second added: "Bernice complaining about her husbands being gay right in front of Nicky who is gay and gonna marry gabby."
A third shared: "Bernice and her gaydar is going ding ding lol!!! #Emmerdale," with a fourth taking to social media to add: "Oh Bernice. If you only knew how close you were to the truth #Emmerdale."
With Nicky and Caleb's secret set to come out soon, actor Will Ash – who plays Caleb – previously teased even more chaos ahead as Caleb is related to both the Dingles and the Tates in the shock twist.
"It could be a bit of a burden for them both as there's a foot in both families. It's really clever that they’ve used that device to see how much disruption these characters can cause. There’s always been that clash between the Tates and the Dingles but it will really ramp it up now!
"It’s really big what Caleb and Nicky are attempting to do so there are a lot of fireworks ready to go off," he said.
