Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has increased her home security after receiving homophobic death threats.
The actress, who has been married to Kate Brooks - a producer on the ITV soap - since 2019, took to her Instagram stories to thank a local security company, who helped her ramp up protection around her family home.
The star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale, wrote: “Just wanted to say what fantastic service we have had from the very first phone call to the end result.
“Anyone local to the Leeds/Wakefield area who needs any security solutions, then look no further than @msc.security.solutions.
“This was a fully paid-for job, not a paid ad. I just wanted to post because they were fabulous.”
Hardwick, 46, who shares a son called Teddy with Brooks, revealed in May that the couple has had “horrific” trolling that showed them the “real dark side” of social media.
She told OK! magazine at the time: “We’ve had a bit of trolling over the last few years. And there have been certain times when police have had to be called because there have been death threats.
"When they’re mentioning your son’s name and you’re just going, ‘Really? I’m just in a soap, you know – we’re not doing any harm to anybody.’”
The couple is currently expecting a second child, a baby girl, after breaking the news on Loose Women last month.
“So baby number two is a little girl,” said Hardwick, who also revealed that her and her partner's donor is also Teddy's biological father and he is happy to meet the children when they’re 18, if they wish to see him.
