Emmerdale's Matty Barton star gushes over 'beautiful' girlfriend

Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano has written a heartfelt tribute to his girlfriend as they celebrate her birthday together.

Ash, who plays Matty Barton in the ITV soap, shared a number of snaps of himself with girlfriend Shea Rowan on Instagram on Thursday. The 32-year-old thanked her for being his "sunshine".

One photo showed Matty and Shea on the beach, while others showed them at a festival and in a photo booth. It's been a tough year for Ash, having lost his mum in May.

Ash referenced the loss in the Instagram post, which he captioned: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my LOVE…. She’s an Icon, a moment, a legend and a professional user of Crease Release!

"Thanks for being my Sunshine even through the Toughest Year! xxx"

Shea replied to the post, saying: "Adore you", while fellow Emmerdale star Fiona Wade, who plays Priya Sharma, said: "Happy Birthday gorgeous Shea! Hope you’re having the best day".

Ash's followers were also quick to wish Shea well. Charlotte said: "What a gorgeous couple. Happy birthday to your lovely lady xx", while Steph Kyriacou said: "Beauts! Happy birthday", and Janine Goodall said: "Adorable".

Ash joined Emmerdale in 2018 as the show's first transgender character. Matty, born Hannah, is Moira Barton's son. Prior to his first appearance, Matty said: "I’m very excited to be joining the very welcoming Emmerdale family.

"From nervous auditions to now working alongside the team daily has been truly amazing. Matty’s a ground-breaking character to play and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for him."
