Emmerdale's Mark Charnock has penned an emotional goodbye to an ITV co-star Duncan Wood after he announced his retirement. Duncan, presenter of ITV Calendar, has decided to bid farewell to the programme after nearly two decade and working in television for three decades.
In a post to his followers on Twitter, Duncan wrote: “It’s a wrap! Tough decision but one I’ve thought long and hard about. Thank you ITV for 32 rollercoaster years of live telly and to the amazing team ITV Calendar I shall miss you greatly!”
In response to Duncan's news, Emmerdale actor Mark, who has played the character of Marlon Dingle since 1996, penned a sweet farewell note to the former ITV presenter, OK! reports. Mark was one of the first people to comment on Duncan's post, as he typed: “Oh Duncan!!! You’re a legend.

“I’m sad to hear this, but I’m very glad to have known you all these years and I’ll miss bumping into you round the building. You’ve always been so kind and supportive as well as being outstanding at your job. Good luck in everything, fella x.”
Duncan replied back with: “Thanks so much Mark, it’s great to have worked alongside you and the Emmerdale gang, the best in the business. Hopefully catch up soon x.”
Several other of Duncan’s ITV co-stars took to the comments section to write their own tributes, including ITV News presenter Nick Smith, who put: “Sorry to see you go fella, and I know those across Yorkshire, Lincs and beyond will miss you dearly. Hope [you] get some well deserved rest and best of luck with whatever comes next!”
Meanwhile TV and radio presenter, Greg Scott added: “No Duncs! Another older - sorry - senior television [star] bows out when still having so much to offer. Will you be going elsewhere? Or taking up crocheting… in a rocking chair.”
Duncan responded by joking: “I’m entering the world tiddlywinks championship next year!”
Duncan gave an emotional goodbye to viewers in his final piece to camera for the programme on Wednesday, May 25, which also featured some of his best bits on the show.
He said: "So that's just about it from me, my sincere thanks go to all the Calendar team that I've worked with over the last 19 years, it has been a joy to work with such a talented crew, my two screen wives Christine and Gaynor who had to put up with so much over the years and of course everyone who's given me great pleasure and being next to me in the studio for the last two decades."
