Emmerdale's Mark Charnock wished well as he leaves UK

Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has received plenty of well wishes from fans after swapping the UK for Italy.

The Marlon Dingle actor has been on the long-running ITV soap for a whopping 27 years, making him one of Emmerdale's longest-standing stars. Marlon Dingle is the son of Albert and Delilah Dingle, the brother of Eli Dingle and the father of April Windsor and Leo Goskirk.

The star is a household name, and has continued to win fans over throughout the years.

He has been at the centre of many of the soap's most iconic storylines, including his recent stroke and subsequent recovery, and supporting his best friend Paddy through a mental health crisis.

On Tuesday, the 54-year-old took to Instagram to share some snaps as he currently takes a break. Captioning the post on Instagram, he said: "Bologna/Parma photo dump. Amazing food, people, places. Bologna now hands down my favourite Italian city."

Fans have been quick to wish Mark well. Taking to the comments section, Alison said: "Have a fab time!", while Victoria said: "Lovely place, I absolutely LOVE Italy!"

Donna said: "How amazing! Your pics look beautiful", and Angie said: "Some stunning photos!"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX
