The British Soap awards are in full swing and after a slow start for Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock took home the award for the Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards 2022.
Mark’s character Marlon Dingle was involved in an emotional storyline as he suffered an unexpected stroke. It couldn’t have come at the worst time as minutes before he had just proposed to Rhona.
He was forced to spend a number of weeks in the hospital as he struggled to speak or more anything but his eyes. He played his character so well that he had viewers opening up about their open experience as they thanked the actor and Emmerdale bosses for raising more awareness.
The actor has now gone on to win the Best Dramatic Performance award at the British Soap Awards 2022. While accepting his award he admitted he was going to get drunk tonight as he went on to thank the producers for trusting him with taking on the stroke storyline.
He later made an urgent plea as he said more needs to be done to prevent and help stroke survivors. Fans were thrilled for the actor as they went straight to social media to congratulate the star.
@MaureenColeman1 Tweeted: “Delighted to see @markcharnock win Most Dramatic Performance at the #BritishSoapAwards a really competitive category but he so deserves this award for his brilliant performance as a stroke survivor & for raising awareness.
@frodomunster said: “#BritishSoapAwards @markcharnock Well Done Mark. Well Deserved for Emmerdale.”
While @SmalesRachel added: “If Mark Charnock is such a great actor, why has he never received any recognition before now? He's been in Emmerdale forever! Its the storyline that is the success here not the actor. #britishsoapawards.”
