Emmerdale favourite Louise Jameson has discussed the ageism she has faced in the TV industry in recent years.
Louise Jameson, 71, who became famous through her roles in Doctor Who and EastEnders, plays Mark Goskirk in Emmerdale. She has discussed the challenges of being typecast and a battle against ageism in showbiz.
As reported by our colleagues at The Mirror, Louise said: “For a lot of shows, I do self-tapes for 'old lady'. They don't even give the character a name sometimes.”

For a recent role, the team on the unnamed TV production cast her as infirm citing the acting star’s grey hair. Louise explained: "They went 'Oh, you have white hair now. We'll put a zimmer frame in the corner of the room.'
Louise added: “Perhaps if I get the ear of the storyliner when I do a job playing 'old lady’ just gently trying to do something from within.”
