Emmerdale's Lisa Riley pays tribute to 'on-screen' mum and Fat Friends co-star Lynda Baron

Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley has paid tribute to her former Fat Friends co-star and "on-screen mum" Lynda Baron who has tragically passed away aged 82.

The sad news was revealed in a statement from her long standing agent and close friend Donna French, it read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved client Lynda Baron.

“She was a wonderful actress and a great friend.

“Her iconic roles of Nurse Gladys in Open All Hours and Aunt Mabel in Come Outside were loved by all generations.

“Renowned for her leading roles in West End musicals and dramatic productions alike, we have lost a leading light of our world.

“We extend our deepest condolences to her daughter Sarah, her son Morgan and all her family.”

Social media has been flooded with tributes to the popular star since the news was confirmed, including Emmerdale's Lisa Riley who worked alongside Baron for several years.

The Mandy Dingle star took to social media to recalling fond memories she had of the much loved actress, who played her mother in the hit drama series Fat Friends.

Lisa shared two snaps of the pair of them together and captioned the post: "God bless you Lynda, rest in peace.

"You played my mum for four wonderful, memorable years in Fat Friends.

"Each and everyday I learnt so much from you, but mostly we always laughed together.

"Your energy will live on forever. #restinpeace #legend love ya xxx."

Eastenders actor Stuart Antony also shared a tribute alongside a picture of the actress, he said: "Saddened to hear wonderful friend Lynda Baron has sadly passed away.

"She was the nicest person and what a legend. Here we are with Sue Pollard just before lockdown - RIP Lynda Baron."
