Former Emmerdale star Kelli Hollis has revealed she has found herself in a spot of hot water in a bizarre case of mistaken identity.
The actress, who played Melanie Say in the ITV soap in 2002 and later Ali Spencer from 2011 to 2015, claims she has received a letter from UK police warning that she could face fines or an arrest due to an alleged offence linked to her car.
Kelli, who permanently moved to Thailand earlier this year with her partner, says she sold the car before she left but now has been accused of kerb crawling leaving her muddled up in the peculiar mess.

The former Shameless star posted a TikTok video where she explained the mix up, the 46-year-old was visibly angry as she revealed that she had been accused of kerb-crawling, or soliciting prostitutes in London whilst living in Thailand.
Kelli claims she sold her car to her friend when she left but wasn't able to check that they had officially taken ownership of the vehicle.
She explained in the clip: “Just before I left for Thailand, I let my friend use my car because they needed to go somewhere and they had no brakes and no MOT. It was pretty dangerous for them to drive their car to be honest. Begrudgingly I lent them my car.”
When Kelli made the decision to move to Thailand permanently, she offered to sell the car to the friend in need. The friend transferred Kelli the money and reassured her that all of the paperwork, including the log book, would be taken care of.
However, this was never done and subsequently Kelli is still the official keeper of the vehicle despite not even being in the same country as the car.
The actress continued: “They didn’t do that and for the last couple of months I’ve been getting ticket after ticket after ticket, I think there’s about five in all so far.
“But this is the icing on the cake. So apparently on the 30th of June 2022, in the London borough of Newham, my car has been seen kerb-crawling. What the actual f**k.”
Kelli held the letter she had received from the MET Police, detailing the crime and potential consequences up to the camera. She explained that she had previously been in touch with the DVLA regarding the parking tickets but now would have to explain this mix up.
Kelli added: “I just don’t want it on records somewhere that I’ve been seen f*****g kerb crawling what the actual f**k.” In the comments section, Kelli admitted she wanted to explain the bizarre story herself before news broke in the UK and people jumped to conclusions.
And while fans sympathised with her situation, many also found it hilarious with some even suggesting it could work as a potential storyline for the sitcom Shameless she used to feature in.
Other commenters jokingly suggested Frank Gallagher was the culprit. While another fan asked Kelli she had “ditched us in Leeds permanently” to which the actor replied: “Yep lol x.”
