Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley reveals back up career as he shares 'uncertain' soap future

Emmerdale legend Jeff Hordley has spoken out about his fears over his future on the ITV soap as he reveals he has a back up career plan as a DJ.

The 52-year-old soap star, who is best known for playing bad boy Cain Dingle, has admitted to feeling "lucky" to still be a part of the Emmerdale family after 22 years in the iconic role.

Cain Dingle and has been a key member of the show since first making his appearance in 2000. Actor, Jeff, has been a part of some major storylines spanning over two decades, with everything from kidnap to claims of arson.

However, the actor recently admitted he didn't think he would be a part of the show for as long as he has, it came as he revealed his "back up plan" as he discussed his uncertain future.

Before landing his famous role in the Dales, Jeff had a passion for music and had a short stint as a DJ. During a recent appear on ITV breakfast show Lorraine, Jeff revealed he is still involved in the music scene.

Asked by host Lorraine: "Do you still DJ?", Jeff revealed: "I do, yes! I am doing something in Manchester, which is called One Deck Wednesday, so that would be good! I can play what I want, and it is great fun!

"That has been my out-of-work acting job, talking earlier about being an actor, and you always need something else."

Lorraine added: "Have another string to your bow! Just in case because you never know, it is always kind of, you never can tell!

"And it is always difficult because, your kids, maybe they will want to do the same thing, and you want to encourage them, of course, but not everybody is lucky enough to have a solid job", Jeff teased: "It still might be!"

The actor went on to say how grateful he was for 22 years as Cain Dingle: "I have been lucky, and I have been blessed! I remember starting years ago and thinking, 'Well, I won't be getting a mortgage'.

"After two years of acting, I thought, well, this is going to be tough."

The soap star also revealed that the cast "roughly" know what’s in store now for the soap’s 50th anniversary later this year as he quipped that the actors were "always last to know".
