Emmerdale's Gennie Walker actor unrecognisable a decade after tragic murder exit

Former Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams looks very different 10 years on from her dramatic exit from the Dales.

Sian, 41, played Genesis 'Gennie' Walker, Brenda Walker's adoptive daughter, from 2008 and 2013, but departed after her character was murdered by Cameron Murray as he attempted to cover up killing Carl King.

Gennie was known for her sleek brown bob on the show, but she has got a completely different hairstyle now.

In a photo posted on Instagram in December, the actor rocks longer, wavy hair which is a much lighter brown.

The soap star rocked a woolly hat with pompoms and a black coat as she smiled the for the camera in the selfie.

Sian simply wrote in the caption: "Winter is my jam."

In some photos from October, Sian again has wavy light brown hair and wears a lilac hat.

Since Emmerdale, Sian has been seen frequently on TV, and recently completed in the BBC Christmas University Challenge final.

She represented Hull University, where she studied drama.

After she left Emmerdale, Sian, who is fluent in Welsh, appeared in Hinterland, two episodes of Line of Duty, Holby City and Hidden as DCI Cadi John, among others.

Gennie was a popular character on Emmerdale (ITV)

Her time in the Dales saw Gennie arrive at the village to find more out about her birth family, and meet her biological dad, Shadrach Dingle.

She and Shadrach became friends and she moved in with the Dingles as she became close to other family members.

Initially unlucky in romance, Gennie found love with Nikhil Sharma and they had daughter Molly together.

Tragically, Gennie was not able to watch Molly grow up, as she found evidence that proved Cameron had murdered Carl.

In a tense car chase scene, Gennie fled from Cameron and Debbie, her vehicle plunging into a ravine, with Gennie trapped inside.

Cameron pulled Gennie from her car but then suffocated her, before the arrival of Debbie.

Although Gennie died in July, she appeared in a pre-recorded video in an August episode.

And the popular character has not bee forgotten, as she was mentioned by her adoptive mum Brenda and Mandy Dingle in 2019.

Last year, Sian wrote an essay where she spoke taking risks in ones career, but also not being afraid to say no to role.

She wrote: "it’s virtually impossible to control anything that comes your way.

"So the little things that you can control become precious. Never be afraid to say no to something that doesn’t feel right.

"The world will not end; your agent won’t drop you. In fact, whenever you have said no to something, the two of you have been on exactly the same page, and this has further strengthened your working relationship.

"It’s empowering and liberating, and it makes you feel like a boss. Hold onto those moments, because they’ll be rare."
