Former Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten looks nothing like her character as she shows off her striking new hair makeover.
The actress played Rachel Breckle on the ITV soap until 2015 and later went on to star in Coronation Street and Holby City. During her time on Emmerdale, Gemma had long brown hair then later ditched the brunette locks and went blonde but has now gone violet.
Gemma showed off her new violet waves with her 26.3k Instagram followers. Alongside the snap she wrote: "In line with new beginnings, comes new hair, right?!

"Chopped and highlighted and toned to an ashy violet tone, all done by the amazing @jeffthehairdresser @oneils_the_hair_advice_centre with a lot of love from @bluskybrands who launch soon #excited (get following all!).
"So many times in the past I've been governed by my inner critic and outer critics, as to what I want my hair to be like, now I'm able to govern myself and it feels good!
"My hair has broken a lot from recent ill health and it's got me in the kickers and blocked me more than I realised mentally… Until now. Tata bad vibing buggy stuff!"
She continued: "New do, new you… Or new do, enhancing same you? Who knew?! There's no right or wrong, But if you're feeling good as a Result… That's the narrative you go with. Not what others say or expect.
"As I always say, to quote Dr Seuss 'today you are you that is truer than true, there is no one alive that is youer than you!'"
Fans were quick to compliment the star on her new look as @badgermatt13photos commented: “Boom looks fantastic…. New hair always makes you feel better.”
@rantgraeme wrote: “Really really beautiful.” @rosieduffin said: “That looks lovely Gemma!” While @amandajmoxon added: “Lovely, it really suits you.”
Responding to all the sweet messages Gemma told her fans: “Thank you for all the lovely compliments!! You're so kind. Love yas.”
